Half Day Fishing Charter

Our half day fishing charters are designed to get you fishing asap. Skipper Anthony will take you to a few of the many off-shore reefs located around Beachport. Snapper, gurnard, morwong, nannygai, knifejaw, flathead, school shark and gummy shark are among the many different types of fish you could expect to catch.

NOTE: Snapper fishing will be closed when the total allowable recreational catch is reached. Strict reporting requirments apply.

If the elusive bluefin tuna are around and the group is keen to troll, we will certainly try to catch some and get your adrenaline pumping! That being said, if catching a big game fish is your primary goal, you should really consider booking our full day fishing charter.

Half day charters require a minimum of 6 people and have a maximum capacity of 12. If you have a group of less than 6 people, Seeker Charters will endeavour to fill the remaining spots. If the remaining spots are unfilled, the trip will be rescheduled. If guests are unable to reschedule, they will receive a full refund on any deposit paid.

Half day charters leave from the Beachport boat ramp at first light and return approximately 5-6 hours later. Guests should arrive at least 15 minutes before their scheduled departure time (which will be confirmed after booking). Upon returning to shore, your catch will be cleaned, vacuum sealed and divided accordingly if requested.

Do I need to bring lunch?

Yes, bring your own lunch, snacks and refreshments. Sandwiches, biscuits, a morning coffee, and a couple of soft drinks are always popular, but bring whatever you like.

Is there anything else I should bring?

We provide high quality rods and reels, but you are welcome to bring your own fishing gear. Please keep in mind though that space is limited and we do not take responsibility for personal items taken on board. Apart from that, bring your camera phone to get some photos of your catch, and a smile, sense of humour and positive attitude are always appreciated on a fishing trip.

What should I wear?

Please wear appropriate clothing for a day out on the sea. Protect yourself from the sun, wind and rain (i.e. jeans, jackets, hats, beanies, sunglasses, etc.). It is important that you wear non-slip enclosed footwear (no sandals nor thongs).

Can children come on the charters?

Children aged 12 and over that are accompanied by an adult are allowed on our charters. While we don’t encourage children under the age of 12 on our fishing charters, we may be able to accomodate them on a shorter afternoon trip. If this interests you, contact us regarding a custom charter.

What if I get seasick?

If you are prone to sea sickness or are not sure if you get sea sick, we recommend that you bring seasickness tablets along with you.

Do I need to be fit and mobile?

Reasonable fitness and mobility is required during the course of your trip as you will need to be able to climb onto the 50-foot vessel from a smaller tender dingy or jetty, and back again. This is not overly difficult, and assistance is always provided by the crew, but you must be careful when moving from one vessel to another.

Is it safe to be so far off-shore?

We take your safety very seriously. Juggernaut has an AMSA medical kit onboard and our crew are trained in first aid. However you need to be aware that you will be travelling to a remote location, and while we will take every step to ensure your safety, there are still risks involved. At the time of booking, please advise us if you have any medical conditions that we need to be aware of.

Can we bring alcohol?

Alcohol is permitted on the Juggernaut. You may bring some beers or other alcoholic drinks, however we ask that you drink responsibly. If a client becomes intoxicated and poses any safety threat to any crew members or clients, the trip will be cancelled and no refund will be offered. If any guest arrives intoxicated they will not be permitted to board and they will forfeit any payments made.

Do we get to keep the fish we catch?

Fish caught during the charter will be cleaned by the crew, vacuum sealed, and divided up amongst all guests. Bring your esky and keep it in your vehicle. If all goes well, at the end of the charter you will be able to fill it up with fresh seafood.
